When: 4-7 September 2017
Where: Santiago de Compostela, Spain
Arria is proud to sponsor the 10th International Natural Language Generation conference (INLG2017) to be held in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, September 4-7, 2017.
The event brings together academics and NLG experts from across the world. It is supported by the Special Interest Group on Natural Language Generation (SIGGEN) of the Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL).
Two of Arria’s leading scientists will be attending the event and sharing their expertise as world leaders in the space:
- Ehud Reiter Chief Scientist, our Chief Scientist, will present a poster on A Commercial Perspective on Reference, which summarises how referring expressions are generated in Arria’s Articulator Pro, and also will run a tutorial on Evaluating Natural Language Generation Systems
Tutorial overview: There are many ways of evaluating NLG systems, including task-based, human-based, and metric-based. I will discuss what can be learnt from different kinds of evaluation, and also limitations and pitfalls. I will also summarise best practice in carrying out different kinds of evaluations, and present the design and outcomes of several real NLG evaluations.
- Yaji Sripada, Arria’s Chief Development Scientist will also be in attendance. Yaji will be running his annual Hackathon focusing on the topic - building a surface realizer for Simplified Technical English (STE) from an input representation specified in Abstract Meaning Representation (AMR)
